Full & Partial House Rewires in Leeds

Upgrade old, unsafe wiring to current BS 7671 standards. Protect your property and handle the demands of modern electrical appliances safely.

Safety & Reliability

Why Consider a Rewire?

Electrical installations degrade over time. If your property hasn't been rewired in the last 25-30 years, it is highly likely that the wiring is no longer compliant with current safety regulations and may be deteriorating.

Furthermore, older homes were not built to handle the sheer volume of electrical devices we use today—from powerful electric showers and ovens to multiple TVs, computers, and EV chargers. Upgrading your wiring not only eliminates fire and shock hazards but also allows you to add necessary sockets and modern features exactly where you need them.

  • Fire Prevention

Old, degraded wiring is a leading cause of domestic fires.

  • Modern Demands

Ensures your system can safely handle the load of modern appliances without tripping.

  • Increase Property Value

A newly issued installation certificate is highly attractive to potential buyers.

Warning Signs Your House Needs Rewiring

If you notice any of these signs, we strongly recommend booking an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) immediately to assess the danger.

Outdated Fuse Box

A consumer unit with a wooden back, cast iron switches, or old rewirable (ceramic) fuses instead of modern circuit breakers and RCDs.

Old Wiring Types

Wiring covered in black rubber, lead, or fabric insulation. Modern wiring uses grey or white PVC coating.

Frequent Tripping

If your electrics regularly trip when using standard appliances, it indicates an overloaded system or a fundamental wiring fault.

Scorching or Smells

Brown scorch marks around sockets, crackling noises, or a fishy burning smell when using switches or plugs.

Our Services

Full vs. Partial Rewiring

Depending on the condition of your existing system and your renovation plans, we offer tailored solutions to meet your exact needs.

Full House Rewire

A complete overhaul of your property's electrical system. We strip out all the old, unsafe wiring, install a new high-specification consumer unit, and run new, modern cabling throughout the entire house.

This is the perfect time to add extra sockets, upgrade to LED downlights, install smart home features, and hardwire internet cables exactly where you want them.

  • All new circuits and cabling
  • New RCBO consumer unit included
  • Full NIC/EIC certification upon completion

Partial Rewire

If the majority of your wiring is sound, but certain areas need updating (e.g., an old extension, or a kitchen remodel), a partial rewire might be the solution.

We can replace specific circuits, such as updating the lighting circuits while leaving the socket circuits intact (provided they pass testing), or wiring a new loft conversion back to the main fuse board safely.

  • Targeted upgrades (e.g., Kitchen only)
  • Less disruptive than a full rewire
  • Cost-effective for newer properties

What to Expect

The Rewiring Process

Rewiring is a major project. We believe in clear communication so you know exactly what is happening in your home at every stage.

1

Design & Planning

We walk through the property with you to mark out exactly where you want every socket, switch, and light fitting. We discuss your future needs to design a comprehensive plan and provide a fixed quote.

2

First Fix (The Messy Part)

Floorboards are lifted, and channels are chased into the plasterwork to run the new cabling. We pull all the new wires to their intended locations and fit the back boxes for sockets and switches.

3

Second Fix (The Neat Part)

Once the plastering has been repaired (by your plasterer), we return to connect the consumer unit, wire up all the faceplates, light fixtures, and thoroughly test every single circuit.

Certification & Handover

We provide you with the final Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) and notify building control of the works, ensuring you are fully legally compliant.

Rewiring FAQs

Answers to your most common questions about rewiring in Leeds.

Do I need to move out during a rewire?

It is highly recommended that you move out, as the property will be without power, dusty, and lacking floorboards in places. However, we understand this isn't always possible. If you remain in the property, the project will take longer, as we must safely restore power at the end of each working day.

Will a rewire ruin my decoration?

To sink the cables safely into the walls, we must 'chase' channels into the plaster. While we work as neatly as possible and use specialized dust-extraction tools, you will need a plasterer to patch these channels afterward, followed by redecorating.

How much does a rewire cost?

Costs vary significantly based on the size of the house, the number of sockets/lights required, and whether the house is occupied. Every project requires a tailored quote. Contact us to arrange a free site visit to discuss your specific needs.
